Emmanuelle Khanh Paris Makes a Comeback

One part swanky new-age hipster, and one part ’70s French glam, Emmanuelle Khanh’s vintage shades are expected to leave quite the impact at this year’s MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, according to the Vintage Frames Shop. Not only has Lady Gaga been spotted wearing a pair during her VMA teaser, but the always fashion-savvy David Bowie has been sporting the specs for decades. “Bowie was almost always seen in wacky Vintage Emmanuelle Khanh Sunglasses,” said the Dr. Shaprio for the Vintage Frames Shop.

The cult classic label met its hay-day within the 1970s French ready-to-wear-meets-haute-couture fashion market. Most famous for her overly large rimmed glasses, former model turned designer Emmanuelle Khanh created a line of shades so chic that they are making a comeback 40 years later.

“Our frames are specific, classy and easy to wear, and there is a special touch in the way [we] design them,” said Elodie Lefeuvre, spokeswoman for the Emmanuelle Khanh Paris Showroom. “[Both] fashion people and chic customers can recognize them very easily.”

According to the Editorial Director of Shopflick, Davida Hall, the vintage Emmanuelle Khanh over-sized 1980s Crimson sunglasses (8080) are a “must have for summer. This classic EK style and shape was designed by the designer for her own collection in the early 1980s that quickly became her signature look.” And, because red seems to be the color for fall, these retro specs drop in perfectly to the present times.
