A trend that seems to come around is that of the gradient lens. Now, as I already said, it’s not a new way to go with sunglasses, but it can be made fresh with some love and creativity from designers.  As we see here, Jennifer Lopez sports sunglasses with gradient lenses and looks her diva best doing so.  With great colors and some nice details, the gradient lens is back!

Is it the ‘almost’ hidden eyes that makes these so alluring and attractive? What ever it is, when done right, it brings a lightness to the face that is unique and different. I guess that’s why this trend resurfaces every few years with a new twist of some kind.  Now if only we could all do it with the attitude of JLo, we’d be set. I also imagine that we will be seeing a lot more from Erdem as the designer was one of three nominated for the very first British Fashion Award “New Establishment accolade - which recognises designers who have created a new movement in British fashion and a “sustained” impact on the way the country’s women dress. These three designers were chosen for their impressive London Fashion Week shows, their business growth, their prevalence on the red carpet and the international headlines driven by their collections.” (Vogue.co.uk)

We are going to take a little walk down memory lane before getting to the current season of Karen Walker quirky sunglasses. The reason for the stroll is to pay a little homage to the creativity of not only the sunglasses themselves, but of the idea for the different campaigns that Walker puts together.  With a great sense of style and the ability to not take herself too seriously, she certainly deserves a nod for being able to make us stand up and take notice, laughing all the while.

We are going to begin with her 2009 season entitled “Here Comes The Sun” and it certainly takes a bite out of the vampire rage going on.  All the models sported their ivory fangs for the campaign and it was pretty interesting to see these vamps having a laugh.

These are from another campaign entitled “Deep Freeze” – I’m not sure what that has to do with all of the models sporting tears on their cheeks, but it is intriguing.

And these blue beauties are from this season’s line called “Brand New Critters”.  The entire line has been photographed on broom ends and mop heads. What a way to showcase Karen Walker quirky sunglasses, indeed!

I really love the detailing in the pair at the top. The etchings that go all the way around the lens certainly catch your eye and add a sparkle to the glasses. While one cannot always predetermine what will inspire them, we take our hats off to the woman who served as an inspiration to the designers at Fendi for the Spring 2012 season. Ready to hear about these truly inspired Fendi Sunglasses and clothing?

Rita Levi-Montalcini is a 102-year Italian neurologist who won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1986. And she is the unlikely inspiration collection spring / summer 2012 from Fendi.

Rita’s life is quite the story and I encourage you to look her up. Smart, ambitious, elegant and certainly feisty, she certainly deserves an entire line of clothing inspired by her achievements and ‘never-say-die’ attitude and…fortitude.

However, there is nothing minimal about the great lady that inspired this collection and these tremendous sunglasses.  Rita Levi-Montalcini, along with two fellow scientists,  won the 1986 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine and later she went on to win the National Medal of Science, which happens to be the highest American scientific honor. There’s more…but I don’t want to bore you!

Okay, these Olympic sunglasses (London 2012) are very fun and colorful and it’s hard not to look at them and start to feel some excitement and anticipation for the start of the games. What we are looking at here are, first: a more general set of sunglasses that are for all fans of the Olympics, no matter which country you hail from or are rooting for.  Select a color and you are good to go!  Second, we have an example of the more ‘official’ design that shows the pride that London feels.  We’re with you, London! Need I say more? Those models are certainly working their Versace 19-69 Sunglasses! Collection includes eyewear as well as sunglasses and they are all really great representatives of the Versace name.  The excellent quality alone is enough to get your swagger on.
